The Employment Program of British Columbia is funded by
the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia

What is it?

The Self-Employment program is designed to support clients who would like to start a business and have an idea that is appropriate, based on the local labour market.

How do I access it?

To apply for Self-Employment, you will need to see an employment counsellor to verify your eligibility and complete an application. Approval of your application is based upon showing a thorough job search and Self-Employment being the most logical plan for sustained employment. Community Futures Development Corp, Trail provides the Self Employment Services, which has three parts: Self-Employment Orientation Workshop, Self-employment Business Concept Development, and Business Launch and Implementation.

You must see a case manager at the Skills Centre first before being referred to Community Futures to participate in the program.
